The village bells awoke everyone again, but only one person didn't gather. The townsfolk raced to the one lone cottage of the missing person. Sure enough, the doors and windows were broken or torn asunder. Inside lay [info]ragnarok_now. Not only was he mauled, but whatever the wolves hadn't touched had been surgically and methodically slice up by someone proficient with a blade. He was dead, hell, not just once, but twice.

I voted very late because, well, I was brought to my attention that it was in the best interest of my health. :)

As for a three way tie: usually ties are bad in the long run. It means that we villagers get no chance to kill a wolf and that the killers get 100% chance to kill one of us.

I really don't think that a tie is a bad idea. It's NO worse than the situations we have had up until now (gut voting and usually a run off in the last hour between 1-3 persons anyway).

Look - even if it gives the two (2 !) remaining wolves the chance to vote "as a block", that's only ONE extra vote - and it gives us data to crunch that's more concentrated than the free-for all voting.

The assertion that one extra vote yields a 1oo% chance for the wolves to kill who they want and that it's impossible for us to kill a wolf is NOT supported by facts in any way, though it might have been anecdotally true in the past.

I did not save the Martyr, as that would have wasted his save. Though again, it might have been a direct attack on Rag, I figured that the chances were better than good that the "victim" last night would be the Martyr.

While I can see how in this game ties would have saved many an innocent villager (not to mention our seer), in general I would have to disagree and say that ties are bad. I view ties as giving the wolves one free day to go hunt, and hurting the villagers by not granting them their one opportunity to hunt the wolves (witches potion aside).

I'm actually wanting to know the reasoning behind the idea that ties are bad. Is it the idea that the "sudden death" tiebreaker does not allow time for discussion ?

the idea that a tie would give the wolves any kind of advantage seems unlikely to me. After all, the two folks up on the block each need to garner enough votes to tie in the first place, and ONE of the two who are tied would die anyway.

Can you back up the idea that the wolves get an advantage somehow ?

Or is the tiebreaker vote a poll with no discussion ?

I can try:

In theory wolves get two chances to kill a villager (the lynching during the day and the killing at night) and the villager gets one chance to guess who is a wolf (during the day).

Ties, Joe correct me if I'm wrong, end with no one getting lynched. There is no discussion, it goes straight to night, the wolves eat someone, and then the debate begins again the next day with one less villager.

I am discouraged that [info]flipperchaz did not post yesterday. That's not beneficial to the village, at all... I say we wait on lynching him, however, since we can discern whether he is staying active during the night phase, and thus is lynch-assured, or if he's just had things come up, suicides, and then we're just sped along on our merry way to doom.

Again, I would like to note that this MAY be the worst village ever. One of the very few I've seen that could lynch its own seer (which was mainly his fault) despite the immense amount of protection that the seer could receive. We need to snap out of this funk, and actually lynch someone worth lynching, for once.

My conclusion for today: I am torn on what to think of the kill last night. One of two things happened, and I wish I could confirm which one, but it is impossible. A) The wolves and Serial Killer both chose the person the Martyr was protecting. That would likely be the bodyguard, which makes sense. In that case, we have at least one inexperienced wolf (my opinion, not fact), based on the fact that a more seasoned player would try and get an additional kill, knowing the serial killer had it covered. B) The exact opposite of the above, if this was coincidence. The wolves MAY have taken the finesse, and chosen to kill Ragnarok... and we'll never know.

I think it's likely that the wolves and the serial killer both went for the bguard. I don't think that was in the best interest of the killer, but the killer might have been playing for the long game, hoping to take out one or more of the protects.

The REAL bummer of it all is that at this point we ONLY have hunches to work with, and those are a bad way to vote ...

I have some gut feelings, but I'm trying to figure out WHY my gut feels the wat it does before posting.

I've decided that I'm just really bad at this game.

I have no idea, other than excluding the specials, and of course, myself, which way to go. Everyone is under suspicion!

So, I'm suspicious of [info]Stride, [info]Lorriet, [info]Gnatdbug, and Smurfette. All based on their behavior and such. Mind you, my suspicions and gut feelings have been crap this game. I'll VOTE [info]STRIDE because someone in this village has to cast the first stone.

It's VERY, VERY hard to figure out when someone is bluffing when we don't have any body language to go off of, everyone can claim that the had work/life/whatever interfere with thier ability to post in a timely manner, and when folks DO post, they have as long as the want to craft thier answers/ assertions.

This is why I realy wanted to have data to plan with, but I've figured out that our chances of "guessing" he wolves goes up only in small amounts as we have less townpersons.

The loss of our seer hurts a LOT !

I am definitely NOT rolling over to die. We are disheartened, and with good reason - out counters to the wolves are plummeting, and our ability to get good data instead of just gut-feelings is mostly gone.

A sheriff is a REALLY bad idea. It'll only hasten the death of the village that much faster. The wolves will eat the sheriff, and the serial killer will kill someone who ISN't the sheriff. It takes away the chance of them doubling up. Maybe once we remove a kill from the village, if we still have any confirmed villagers left.
