The Werewolves have returned to the Village. The howling over the last few days was but a harbinger of their return. Now, the splayed corpse of the Innkeeper [info]joelzero is being removed from his half demolished cottage. The Church bell rings its familiar, mournful tone, calling the Village to the Square to discuss the heinous Werewolf slaying of the Innkeeper.

SUMMARY: There are 3 WEREWOLVES, 2 independent SEERS, a WITCH, an AFFLICTED, a RALPH [info]NADER, and five honest VILLAGERS in the Village. You must vote to lynch someone by "sunset" which is Thursday July 6th.

I'm an ordinary villager this game.

1. By lynching me, you're not lynching either seer, and you're not lynching the witch. This keeps them alive and secret.

2. There's enough momentum that I'm unlikely to redirect the lynching to someone else except by falsely claiming to be a special.

3. As an ordinary villager, I'm inclined to play discordian when I don't have any solid theories. Voting against myself is silly in a way that appeals to me.

4. It's nigh-on-impossible to lynch a wolf the first day, since the wolves an easily push momentum against someone else.

5. From your POV, your logic for voting against me is sound, so I can't really argue against it.

Re: point #3. Stop it people. [info]Gnatdbug f-ed up a game recently because he refused to play in a useful manner.

I find it frustrating when people play the "I'm just trying to mess with the game because I like to mess with the game" when it isn't actually part of gameplay. Its one thing to play discordian as the wolf, and another to do so just to obfuscate the real issues. So to all you discordians, I would rather have a short game with a wolf victory without discordian villagers, so I will always vote to lynch your asses.

What I'm doing is very different than what Gnat did. My "discordian" play is generally restricted to creative abstentions, and in this specific case I'm conceding to a bandwagon that I'm unlikely to be able to redirect somewhere that would increase the odds of a villager win.

Hmm I think its still either a play that will hurt the villagers by confusing the issue....

or its a "smart" play designed to elicit sympathy for yourself, in an attempt to look so innocent (possibly while being guilty) so that your tracks are covered as others vote out of concern for the "dogpile" on you, ala [info]perkyevil.

Which is just hilarious, right now daedalus has voted for you, as have I (somewhat randomly, just based on your own knowledge that you don't help much as a villager), and yourself. now that isn't a "dogpile" at all, but could easily be used for cover by the wolves (perkeyevil?) as they dogpile an actual villager.

i dunno, maybe i'm extra grumpy/suspicious/etc what with being tired an back at work and ouchy. but i wnat to get some playing in before i get killed off, as a known decent player.

(hah! see that attempt to keep my skin. now the wolves might chose not to kill me as an attempt to make me look like a wolf!)

Traditionally people who _never_ post tend to be villagers who've gotten too busy with their everyday lives to participate. One has more motivation to engage in debate if one is a wolf.

Actually it's not that wolfy (well I guess it depends on which glass of wine you're looking at :) . . . if they remain inactive they die anyway, thus removing more people from the game quicker all in the same day and thus potentially giving more of an edge to the wolves. I've seen both sides of the argument though . . .
