The moon rises, and your camp begins to fill out as more and more people arrive. Playa dust, that thin powdery alkaline salt, is everywhere so thick you can taste it. As you help some of the later arrivals set up their tents by flashlight, a man in khaki shorts and shirt wanders into camp. He wears a hat bearing the symbol of the Black Rock Rangers, who you know as either "the Good Guys" or "those damn Khaki Hall Monitors". Both feared and revered, the Black Rock Rangers are the last line of defence before the real Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) become involved.

"Hey guys, um, my name is Danger Ranger. I'm asking folks to sort of help me spread the word here. We've got more than the usual number of plainclothes LEOs in the city this year. This morning three of 'em had Chicken John hauled off. So um, you know, keep the stuff hidden. If you're gonna light up, do it in your tents and make sure nobody can see in. I think they got some kind of drug smelling dog too. Rumor has it he don't alert on pot though, so there's no telling what they're looking for. We think it might be that new designer drug called 'Love Potion #9', but we're not sure, it could be something else."

"We gotta figure out who these NARCs are. I'll be back by later tonight. If you guys can pick out someone for me, I can figure out a way to help get them off the playa."

A soft murmur of concern spreads through your camp. Danger Ranger turns to leave, then pauses.

"Oh yeah, hey, one more thing," he adds, "If it didn't come from your body, don't put it in the potty. No trash in the porta-johns, ok?"

SUMMARY: There are three NARCs and one K9 UNIT in the village. There are also two HIGH SCHOOL CHUMS, a FRAT BOY, a SNITCH, a CHEMIST, a DRAMA QUEEN, a DOSE FAIRY, and a GLOWSTICK NINJA. OTOH, 1) [info]cambler has his head on and would play it like that. 2) Regardless of how [info]kraydon may feel about the moral/social good of that approach, she has to admit that he'd be playing it fair and from him, this wouldn't be NARCalicious suspicious behaviour - just more of playing the game. 3) So not fair. If I'm gonna get busted by [info]kraydon for playing it like an ex, I should at LEAST get a chance to play a little inappropriate emotional bonding with her first!

For the new people who are confused about the lists of claims people are throwing about, it's a strategy that was suggested for the seer/glowstick ninja to share their findings after they die. Everyone makes three claims per day. The seer will include what they found out the previous night in the same line number each day and everyone's claims should appear as though they could be seer info. The idea is that after we know who the seer is (after they die), we will know enough (either right after or later in the game) to be able to determine which set of claims was what the seer saw. The down side is that since the narcs know who is and is not a narc, they can use these claims along with that information to help determine who the glowstick ninja is fairly quickly.

In practice, I believe there has been one game where it may have helped the villager's a bit and one game where it may have helped the wolves a bit to find the seer and one game where people didn't understand it and it caused all kinds of confusion.

I saw a post this weekend with the subject "Welcome to Black Rock City". It was not the Welcome to BRC post that any of y'all saw. (Hello, I'm [info]princeofwands and I'm a special character RAVER. And since I'm alone in the post I saw it wasn't the NARC welcome post either.)

However - there is one such welcome post that (at least) 5 players saw. The straight RAVERS in this game all were told that they were RAVERS but not Special Characters. It's possible (entirely likely) that some non-raver specials were included on the filter for their welcome post (the FRAT BOY and the SNITCH - since these players doesn't know that they're special).

So - There's seven of y'all. You all know the same secret (the body of your Welcome to BRC). A little challenge/response via comments here can be used amongst y'all to verify your common identity.

Now is the time to validate your secret, no?

And it's a hard call to make! Because identifying the plain ravers limits who can be the in-game specials. We've only gotta beat the Narcs and the K9 unit though. The Snitch is a problem, but not a condition for winning. They knock down one of us each round (less successful defenses) - wanna race to the end condition?

5 Vanilla Ravers, but 7 who believe themselves to be. Leaving 10 Flavored Ravers, 4 of which are bad guys who know they are bad guys.

We have to protect the GSNinja, Chemist, and DQueen and we can only protect once per game, so try not to out yourselves too early. Being piled on before 3pm isn't all that bad, it's scarry, but not bad.

A girl wearing a black dress turns slowly from her knot of stoners by the campfire and cuts her eyes toward the RV. Well, here's hoping the vote swings and I don't get lynched. I know some of you have been influenced by my claim as the DOSE FAIRY, but lacking any other real target have just stayed the course.

I would propose that based on previous games, individuals (not the one that ended up getting lynched) that are a second (of only two) voter for a candidate tend to be the bad guys. There has only been one such player this round:

I agree that being uncontested counts towards your believability, but it's an unconfirmable claim none the less. If someone does come out, they are as likely to be ostracised as you are. For the good of the raver party though, it seems the 'real dose fairy' should out themselves so we can vote out one or both of you these first two turns. Because of that, I believe you. Whatever happens, don't out the e-tards, its way too early.

I'm a little late getting back, but since no one else has refuted [info]princeofwands' claim, I'm inclined to think he probably is the dose fairy.
